The Many Faces of Rowen Thomas

Rowen's Two-Week Check-Up

Yesterday we went to Rowen's two-week check-up at the doctor.  He now weighs 7 lbs. 8 oz. and is 20 inches long! He was awake for the entire appointment and he followed the nurse with his eyes as she talked to him. He is getting more alert and spending more time awake these days (unfortunately even in the night time too).  He is growing fast and doing really well!!

Rowen Thomas Bettendorf - First Few Days

Rowen Thomas Bettendorf has arrived!!

On June 22, 2011, my liver enzymes and blood pressure were both elevated and the doctor decided it was time to induce labor.  The induction began at approximately 8pm and went all through the night. The next evening at around 8:30 pm, when it was clear that natural delivery wasn't going to be possible, they began prepping me for a c-section.  Rowen Thomas Bettendorf was born on June 23, 2011 at 9:06 pm  - weighing in at 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. We are so happy he's here!
